Mjejane River View Lodges
River view lodges are the most sought-after spots in Mjejane Game Reserve. They sit on the banks of the Crocodile River, looking directly across the water into Kruger National Park. From your deck you watch elephant herds drinking, hippos surfacing in the late afternoon, and buffalo moving down to water in long lines.
Every river view lodge below is hand-picked, self-catering, and personally vetted by We Love Kruger. Most have private pools and outdoor showers — perfect for hot bushveld afternoons.

Frequently Asked Questions
What's the difference between a river view and a reserve view lodge?+
River view lodges sit on the banks of the Crocodile River and look directly across the water into Kruger National Park. Reserve view lodges face inward into Mjejane's bushveld. Both offer Big 5 game viewing — but river view lodges give you a continuous flow of animals coming down to drink, especially in the dry winter months.
Are river view lodges more expensive than reserve view lodges?+
Yes — river view lodges generally command a premium of 20–40% over reserve view lodges of similar size. The location is the most sought-after in Mjejane, and demand is highest in winter (June–October) when game viewing from the deck is at its peak.
What animals will I see from a river view lodge?+
Elephants, hippos, buffalo, waterbuck, kudu, impala and crocodile are sighted regularly along the Crocodile River. Lion and leopard come down to drink at dawn and dusk. The opposite bank is open Kruger National Park, so the wildlife you see crosses freely between the two reserves.
Are river view lodges safe — can animals reach the lodge?+
The river forms a natural barrier and most lodges have low electric fencing or boma walls around the immediate house. Animals do not enter the lodge itself, but you should be alert when walking outside, especially after dark. Mjejane is a Big 5 reserve and walking on game-drive roads is not permitted.
Can I swim in the Crocodile River?+
No — the river is named for what lives in it. Most river view lodges have private pools or shared pools on the deck above the river, which is where you swim. The river itself is for game viewing only.
