Safari Packing List · Mjejane & Kruger
What to pack(and what not to).
A season-aware checklist for a self-catering safari at Mjejane Game Reserve. Clothing by season, safari essentials, medical, photography and lodge supplies — in one place.
The short version
Pack for dawn drives, not a fashion show
Dawn is cold on an open vehicle — even in summer. Afternoons can hit 40°C. Everything you need to know is right here: clothing by season, safari essentials, medical, and what We Love Kruger already handles for you.
Malelane’s supermarkets deliver groceries to Mjejane— so you don’t have to pack a cooler box for the N4 drive. Order directly with the store, or use our meal planner once you’ve booked.
Weather by season
Pack for when you’re coming
Summer (Oct–Mar)
Hot and humid. 25–40°C days. Afternoon thunderstorms likely. Pack light clothing, a rain jacket, strong insect repellent and malaria prophylaxis.
Winter (May–Sep)
Cool mornings, warm afternoons. 5–25°C range. Open-vehicle drives are freezing at dawn — pack thermals, fleece and a beanie. Best game viewing season.
Shoulder (Apr & Oct)
Mild and often perfect. Warm days, cool mornings. Layers work well. Bush is green after summer rains and drying out before winter.
